Why I Ditched My Apple Watch
You know what’s super relaxing?
A tiny computer strapped to my wrist, buzzing all day and reminding me how ‘productive’ I’ve been. 🙄
JUST KIDDING. 😜
That thing is annoying AF, and honestly, probs (definitely?) unhealthy.
So, I’ve ditched my fancy-schmancy Apple Watch. 👋
It didn’t start as some bold declaration of freedom.
It was more of a happy accident–or maybe divine intervention. ✨
I’d skip a day of wearing it if I wasn’t planning to get a workout in.
(Because GOD FORBID I wear that sucker and not close the rings.)
Then I just started to forget to wear it.
(Clearly a nudge from the universe.)
And now it's been a few weeks since I've bothered to put it back on.
(Because a girl can take a hint.)
At first, I felt naked without it.
I mean, how was I supposed to know if I was “good enough” that day without my tiny trainer to keep score?
But now?
I’ve never felt more free.
I can run just because it feels good—not because I’m trying to check off a box.
I can spend a lazy morning with my kids without that "stand up now" buzz guilt-tripping me into moving.
That little device was low-key running my life, and I didn’t even realize it.
It wasn’t just counting minutes and steps—it was tying my movement to my self-worth, making me feel like I needed to earn my right to relax.
Letting it collect dust on my dresser opened my eyes to how much I was relying on it to tell me what to do, instead of just listening to my body’s wisdom.
I’ve unlocked a new level of freedom since ditching it, tuning out the numbers and tuning in to what my body actually wants.
And you know what else I’ve discovered?
Sweet, sweet peace.
Without my wrist constantly buzzing with texts, emails, and alerts, I’m actually in the moment.
Instead of getting distracted by my watch every 30 seconds, I’m soaking up my kids’ stories, making it through more than a paragraph at a time in my book, and enjoying life without those constant little interruptions pulling me out of the present.
Look, I’m not saying your smartwatch is evil.
But maybe it’s time to ask yourself:
Is this little gadget actually helping me, or is it keeping me stuck and distracted? 🤔
If you’re ready to reclaim your rhythm, ditch the distractions, and start to listen to your body, let’s talk!
